Menstrual Health Management: Myths, Realities & Way Forward
Menstruation is a natural process, yet in many Ghanaian communities it is surrounded by stigma. Girls are teased, excluded, and even forced to miss school. Many cannot afford sanitary products, leading to infections and further shame.
The myths—“a menstruating girl is unclean” or “she shouldn’t cook”—hurt both dignity and health. These outdated beliefs must be challenged with facts and compassion.
GRAYNETWORK works with schools to normalize conversations about menstrual health, train boys to be allies, and push for affordable sanitary pads for all.
Menstrual health is not just a “girls’ issue.” It’s an education issue, a health issue, and a human rights issue. Ensuring every girl manages her period with dignity will transform communities.
